The Vandevert Ranch Design Rules and Guidelines give owners maximum flexibility in designing their homes while assuring that all designs preserve the views from other houses and are compatible with the character of the ranch. The fifteen houses now on the ranch are a testimony to the success of this philosophy and the productive relationships between the individual homeowners and the Design Review Committee. The Committee consists of owners appointed by the Vandevert Ranch Association board of directors, elected by all owners.

House exteriors are primarily log (full log or half log) with some wood (e.g. barn siding) and some natural stone. Vandevert Ranch houses have appeared in such national magazines as Architectural Digest and Log Homes Illustrated, and in architectural books such as Inside Log Homes by Cindy Thiede and Northwest Style by Ann Wall Frank.
